Pedro E. Suarez President of Dow in Latin America, Commercial Vice President for Latin America Performance Chemicals

Pedro E. Suarez is the president of Dow in Latin America and adds responsibility as Commercial vice president for Latin America Performance Chemicals He will be leveraged to the Basic Plastics and Chemicals portfolio with sales responsibilities for Basic Chemicals in Latin America. He is also a member of the Management Committee and the Geography team.

In 2000, Suarez was named Area Commercial Vice President for the Polyolefins & Elastomers Business Group in Europe, Middle East and Africa. He added responsibilities as Country Manager of Spain and Portugal in 2002. He held both roles until 2004 when he assumed the North American Commercial Vice Presidency for the Plastics business portfolio of The Dow Chemical Company.

Suarez began his Dow career in 1979 with Latex TS&D in Argentina. In March 1984, he was named Product Market Manager for Urethanes and Latex. In 1986, he was transferred to Latin America Headquarters in Coral Gables as Specialty Plastics & Emulsion Polymers Product Sales Manager. Two years later, he was named Marketing Manager and in January 1990, Business Manager for Performance Products. He was promoted to Area Business Manager for Emulsion Polymers and Brazil Performance Products Manager in 1993. The following year, he was named Business Director for Emulsion Polymers and later Commercial Director for Specialty Chemicals & Emulsion Polymers. He assumed the position as Commercial Director for Latin America in October 1996.

Suarez is a board member of the American Plastics Council (APC). He earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad Tecnologica Nacional in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
