Hollow Sphere Pigments

Breaking conventions with hollow sphere pigments

ROPAQUE™ Hollow Sphere Polymeric Pigments feature a unique structure that provides benefits to the paper industry. Their insulation properties help create higher quality print images, and can also be formulated to provide a high gloss surface appearance for paper and paper packaging.

ROPAQUE™ TH-2000

Aqueous styrene-acrylic emulsions with hollow water-filled cores. Upon drying the water evaporates leaving an air-filled void, providing opacity and excellent insulation properties. The polymeric nature of the shell means that paper coatings containing ROPAQUE™ Hollow Sphere Pigment technology are very easy to calender with low temperature and pressure resulting in a smooth surface.

Appearance and printability

Increased sheet gloss, print gloss, brightness, and opacity.

Excellent insulation

Excellent insulation for better thermal print performance and barcode readability.

Improved smoothness

High smoothness that can be tailored with calendering.

Coating holdout

Increased holdout on paper surfaces.

Versatile compatibility

Compatible with various inorganic pigments, binders, and additives.
