Automatic Dishwashing Solutions
Enable clean dishes that shine right out of the dishwashing machine with Dow’s automatic dishwashing components and solutions.
Unlock convenience, cost efficiency and sustainability for automatic dishwashing solutions
Automatic dishwashing has been evolving toward higher washing efficiency – reducing environmental impact by using less water and shifting to cooler, less energy-consuming cycles. Along with efficiency, consumers expect their dishes to be shiny and clean, with benefits of faster drying, improved removal of dried and burned-on stains or more sustainable cleaning.
Dow can help formulators meet these needs with a wide-ranging portfolio of automatic dishwashing solutions for tablets, pouches, gels and additives like rinse aids.

Enabling clean dishes in an easy-to-use tablet or pouch format
Beyond tablets, pouches with various shapes continue to develop and drive innovation. The multiple compartments format offers formulators the flexibility to combine powder and liquid ingredients in the same dose to deliver maximum performance.
Dow can help optimize formulations by offering a broad portfolio of solutions such as dispersants for scale management that sustain perfect shine and surfactants for cleaning and spotting with the support of foam control agents when required.
Reduce filming
ACUSOL™ 588G Polymer is designed to reduce film formation and ACUSOL™ 445NG, 425N and 402 Polymers offer excellent scale spotting mitigation. Innovative dispersants ACUSOL™ 527G Polymer and ACUSOL™ 528 Polymer provide shine and limit the redeposition of scale.
Prevent spotting
ACUSOL™ 460N Polymer from Dow has an affinity for soil that helps prevent food particles from adhering to dish surfaces and also helps water sheeting to reduce spot formation. In addition, ECOSURF™ Bright 1 Surfactant is a low-foaming capped waxy surfactant that can reduce spots and improve shine.
Boost cleaning performance
To improve removal of food residues TERGITOL™ 15-S and ECOSURF™ EH Surfactants deliver excellent wetting properties. These surfactants can be combined with low-foam solutions such as TERGITOL™ L Series, DOWFAX™ 20A/B Series and ECOSURF™ LFE Series Surfactants to achieve excellent cleaning and shine
Control foam
Dow offers a range of solutions to control foam in automatic dishwasher tablets and pouches, such as DOWSIL™ GP-4503 Powdered Silicone Antifoams or ECOSURF™ LFE-1410. Learn more about Dow’s offering of low-foam surfactants.
Offer biodegradable formulations
Dow offers a range of biodegradable solutions that help prevent scaling. In addition, ECOSENSE™ HC-2100 and ECOSENSE™ HC-2200 Surfactants are bio-based ingredients that help boost cleaning performance in automatic dishwasher formulations.
Providing formulation stability and cleaning efficiency for gels
Automatic dishwashing gels offer consumers the convenience of controlling product dose while avoiding direct contact with the product like the broadly used monodose formats. Dow offers a range of solutions for gel formulations that help suspend particles and actives, control flow properties and stabilize formulations, while also providing outstanding cleaning and shine.
Prevent filming and spotting
Dow has developed innovative polymer dispersants for gel dishwashing formulations that boost shine by preventing the redeposition of scale on dishware. Dispersants such as ACUSOL™ 527G Polymer and ACUSOL™ 528 Polymer can be incorporated into phosphate-free and low-phosphonate gel formulations.
Stabilize formulations
Dow offers rheology modifiers to help stabilize formulations and control viscosity and flow, even at high salt content. ACUSOL™ Millennium ER and 805S Rheology Modifiers are best for suspending actives, while ACUSOL™ 810A and 820 Rheology Modifiers help control the rheology of gels for uniform dosing.
Boost shine and cleaning benefits
Nonionic surfactants from Dow are ideal for increasing shine and cleaning in dishwashing gels. DOWFAX™ 20B102 Surfactant and ECOSURF™ Bright 12 Surfactant help reduce spotting, while TERGITOL™ 15-S-9 Surfactant boosts cleaning, and ECOSURF™ LFE-1410 or TERGITOL™ L-64 Surfactants offer low-foam properties for dishwashing gels.
Delivering brilliant shine and drying performance in rinse additives
When high water hardness comes into play, rinse additives can be added to the dishwasher to reach a perfect shine and dry of the dishware.
We offer a range of solutions for automatic dishwashing such as surfactants and dispersants. From surfactants for high wetting and low foaming capacity to water sheeting that limits residual spotting and water removal facilitation, our broad portfolio has solutions to meet consumer demand for shine and cleanliness.
Reduce spotting
For high-wetting, low-foaming and water sheeting to limit spots and boost drying, Dow offers TERGITOL™ L-64 Surfactant, which is CleanGredients approved. Also, DOWFAX™ 20B102 Nonionic Surfactant is a biodegradable surfactant with a cloud point around 30°C for stability and clarity in rinse aid formulations.
Faster drying
For rinse aids, Dow offers sophorolipids EcoSense™ HC-2100 and EcoSense™ HC-2200 Surfactants, which provide excellent drying performance when combined with nonionic surfactants such as the DOWFAX™ 20A84N Nonionic Surfactant.
Control filming
To help control limescale residue, Dow offers ACUSOL™ 588 Dispersant, which helps with film prevention and overall performance in drying aids and additive formulations.
