Silicone Cleaning and Removal
Cured and uncured silicones
Removing cured or uncured silicones from your tools, kettles, bottling lines, pipes, manufacturing equipment and floors can help you reduce the risk of product contamination, promote industrial hygiene and worker safety, and improve equipment performance. We offer effective, nonflammable silicone solvents and aqueous cleaners that can help you remove cured and uncured silicones from your equipment and surfaces.
Which silicones?
DOWSIL™ DS-2025 Silicone Cleaning Solvent and DOWSIL™ DS-1000 Aqueous Silicone Cleaner are nonflammable and have high flash points and low viscosities.
DOWSIL™ DS-2025 Silicone Cleaning Solvent
Rapidly depolymerizes and dissolves cured silicone that’s reusable, does not contain aromatic or halogenated solvent and is compatible with most construction materials.
DOWSIL™ DS-1000 Aqueous Silicone Cleaner
Effectively emulsifies silicone oils, greases and uncured silicone elastomers. Also effective degreaser in a wide range of manufacturing or processing applications. Can also comply with EU detergent regulation on biodegradability of surfactants.

When cleaning out hoses and piping in a dispense line, a low cost non-water based solvent can often be used (naphtha, mineral spirits, hexane, etc). In some cases, pumping through XIAMETER™ PMX-200 fluid – a non-functional polydimthylsiloxane “silicone oil” of a higher viscosity than the silicone being dispensed can be an effective way to clean out dispense lines. Any residual silicone oil will be flushed out when the equipment is put back into normal service, and small residues of the silicone oil will be absorbed into the new silicone with very little impact on properties.
