Established in 2012, Pack Studios Freeport – located south of Houston, Texas, USA – is our first and one of our largest locations, featuring a robust assortment of state-of-the-art fabrication lines, commercial-scale packaging lines, and diverse testing equipment. This unique innovation center is strategically positioned where Dow’s North America experts can collaborate to solve unique packaging challenges that accelerate packaging innovation across the value chain.
The Dow complex in the Freeport area is home to our research and development, pilot plants, production plants, and more. And Pack Studios Freeport sits in the heart of it all.
Pack Studios Freeport enables regional customers and industry partners to deliver faster and more efficient commercialization of new and improved packaging. Capabilities in Freeport allow customers and partners to reduce cycle time on fabrication, prototyping, and testing during new packaging development.
Expanded capabilities
MDO
A film-making technology enabling the creation of durable, high functioning films. The addition of the MDO extension elevates Dow’s 9-layer and 5-layer lines to accelerate mono-material packaging development more than ever.
Cast Film Line
New cast film extrusion technology expands development and testing capabilities for I&CP applications. Equipped with seven extruders, each paired with a six-component blending system, to aid in designing next-generation cast films.

Pack Studios Ringwood – located north of Chicago, Illinois, USA – is aimed at accelerating laminating adhesives projects through a global network of laboratories, technical experts and testing equipment. The location features an industrial-scale Nordmeccanica Super Combi 3000 laminator line for faster commercialization of innovative adhesives solutions. Pack Studios Ringwood supports testing and prototyping, with the added advantage of avoiding the disruption to commercial production.
