Heat Management for Lighting

Beating the heat

From streetlamps, industrial and office lighting, to sport stadium illumination, LED lamps and lighting make up a crucial part of our day-to-day experiences. The demand for better lighting in the industry continues to push manufacturers to develop compact designs that provide more light while managing the heat more efficiently than ever before.

Dow silicone materials offer a wide range of thermal management solutions for the entire LED value chain. Many of our materials can withstand temperatures ranging from -45°C to 200°C and are compatible with a wide range of efficient application processes, including screen or stencil printing, or via proven dispensing equipment.

Why silicones?

Compared to other materials, silicones’ low thermal conductivity and stability, allow it to maintain its properties and structure over a wide temperature range.

Which silicones?

DOWSIL™ SE 4486 Thermally Conductive Adhesive

Designed to provide efficient thermal transfer for the cooling of electronic modules, including home appliance devices.

SYLGARD™ 160 Silicone Elastomer Kit

A two-part, 1 to 1 mix, dark gray, general purpose encapsulant with good flowability and flame resistance.

DOWSIL™ TC-5026 Thermally Conductive Compound
